Billie Jean Adkins, age 66, of McCarr, KY, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born August 16th, 1949 in Majestic, KY, a daughter of the late Eli and Sophia Taylor Thorpe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; one son: Raymond Thorpe; one brother: Roland Thorpe; and one sister: Mae Chapman.
Billie was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She loved going shopping, listening to music and watching television. Her favorite hobbies were puzzle books and sewing. When Billie lived in North Carolina, she enjoyed going to Shriner's dances every weekend. She was a good momma and a great grandmother who would do anything for anyone.
Billie Jean is survived by; one son: Jamie (Jackie) Thorpe of Sulphur Spring, TX; one brother: Walter (Shorty) Thorpe of Detroit, MI; two sisters: Fronia Mitchell of Dublin, OH, Ruby Ann (Clinton) Justus of Maxie, VA; seven grandchildren: John Alexander Casey, Lindsay Michelle Thorpe, Steven Patrick Thorpe, Rachael Nicolle Thorpe, Emaly Sneed, Braden Wilson, Rylee Sneed; faithful caregiver: Pauline Robinson of McCarr, KY and a host of friends and family to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday the 26th at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Casey officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chapman Family Cemetery at Majestic, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M Sunday at the funeral home with services at 7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
