Carl Jay Chapman

Carl J. Chapman, 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Pike County, KY, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Marjorie P. Lee Rehabilitation Center in Cincinnati, OH.  He was born January 12, 1940 in Freeburn, KY, a son of the late Belve & Vicie Norman Chapman.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: John Kennedy Chapman; one sister: Gretchen Willis. 

Carl was married to his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann McClanahan Chapman, on November 19, 1959.  He worked for General Motors as an assembly line man. He was of the Pentecostal Church of God faith, and he enjoyed reading his Bible, listening to religious music, and watching Sheppard’s Chapel on TV.  Carl often enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, & camping when his health permitted.  He was also an avid collector of sports cards. 

In addition to his wife Mary, Carl is survived by one son: Carl Jason Chapman Jr of Cincinnati, OH; two daughters: Teresa Highlands (David Arthur Highlands II) of Cincinnati, OH, Alicia Murphy (Robert Blair Murphy) of Cincinnati, OH; four sisters: Shelby Fields of Phelps, KY, Della Layne, of Freeburn, KY, Darlene Mounts (Phillip Mounts) of Freeburn, KY, Carlene Chapman of Cleveland, OH; four grandchildren: Brittney Hart (Jon Hart) of Cincinnati, OH, David Arthur Highlands III of Cincinnati, OH, Brendan Murphy of Cincinnati, OH, Braxton Murphy of Cincinnati, OH; two great grandchildren: Sophia Ann Marie Hart & Levi Jay Hart of Cincinnati, OH;  and a host of nieces, nephews, friends & family to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Freeburn Free Pentecostal Church with Reverend Kenny Chapman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Chapman Cemetery, Freeburn, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the church with special services at 7:00 P.M.
