Cob Hamilton

Carl Denvard “Cob” Hamilton, 71, of Stopover, KY, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born February 15, 1945, a son of the late Ira and Jettie Adkins Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Ira Gilmer Hamilton and Aaron Hamilton.

Cob was a retired coal miner, having worked for Chisolm Coal for 37 years, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He also loved his dogs and taking care of them. Cob was a good husband, brother, uncle, and friend.

Survivors include his wife: Dorothy Mounts Hamilton of Stopover, KY; three brothers: Edgar "Denton" (Macie) Hamilton, James Hamilton, & Ralph Hamilton all of Phelps, KY; one sister: Shirley Jean Fields of Knoxville, TN, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Jones & West Funeral Home, Phelps, KY with cremation to follow services.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 10:00 P.M. Thursday, June 30th at the funeral home chapel with special services at 7:00 P.M.
