Dalssie "Dallas" Wolford

Dalssie Ray “Dallas” Wolford, 73, of Phelps, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born April 12, 1943 in Freeburn, KY, a son of the late Anthony & Juanita Norman Wolford.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Twana Wolford; three brothers: Sammy Lee Wolford & two infant brothers.

Dallas was a United States Army Veteran whose decorations included Expert Rifleman and the Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin).  He was a member of the Jamboree Church of God.  Being the people person that he was, Dallas never met a stranger & loved to fellowship with others.  Dallas also enjoyed hunting, and was a dedicated husband, a wonderful father, grandfather & great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of fifty years: Roberta Wolford of Phelps, KY; three daughters: Joan Smith of Michigan, Gidgetta “Gidget” Daniels of Freeburn, KY, Vanessa (Jason) Kaiser of Homer, MI; four grandchildren: Dustin (Kayla) Daniels of Phelps, Tiahna Waring of Jackson, MI, Kenisha Waring of Union City, MI, Dakota Waring Homer, MI; two great-grandchildren: Leelynd & Colton; and one great-grandson on the way: Dominic.  Dallas is also survived by his nephew: Joshua Wolford; special friends: Ralph Dotson, Warren “Bubby” Wolford, Rev. Willie Gordon; and a host of family & friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Jamboree Church of God with Reverends: Hubert Sanderson & Benny Freeman officiating.

Military rites will be performed by DAV Chapter 141, Belfry, KY. 

Burial will follow in the Hurley Family Cemetery at Widows Branch, Phelps, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the church with special singing at 7:00 P.M.  Visitation will continue at the church on Sunday with special services at 7:00 P.M. by Reverend Marvin Casey.
