Debbie Jo Blankenship, 61, of Vulcan, WV, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Woodman Community Church.  She was born July 7, 1956, a daughter of the late Albert & Lillian Coleman Norman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister: Barbara Norman Blankenship; and four brothers: Christopher, Sammy, Albert Junior, & Fritz Norman.

Debbie retired from the Pike County Board of Education, having worked as a secretary for Phelps Elementary for 37 years.  She enjoyed doing yard work & sewing.  She was a member of the Woodman Community Church where she played piano, sang, & taught Sunday School.  Debbie had a great love for her Sunday School children and her church.  She was a wonderful wife & mother, and was an inspiration to her husband in his ministry. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband: Odis Blankenship of Vulcan, WV; one son: Odis Allen Blankenship of Vulcan, WV; one brother: Jessie Norman of Blackberry, KY; one sister: Angie Norman of Williamson, WV; and special friends: Buddy Gannon, Dorothy Justice, & Mary Prater.  Debbie is also survived by her church family and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Woodman Community Church with Revs: Harold Layne & Larry Rife officiating. 

Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY with Jamie McClanahan, Buddy Gannon, Benny Smith, Richard Wolford, Richie Wolford, Chris Compton, & Kevin Lester serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Friday at the church with special services 7:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers it is at the request of Odis Blankenship and the Community Church of Woodman that donations be made to the Debbie Blankenship Sunday School fund.  Debbie loved her Sunday School class and would be pleased to know that it will continue! Thanks for your love and support.  May God bless you and continue to pray for this family!
