Fona Mae Patterson, 82, of Matewan, WV, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Tug Valley ARH Skilled Nursing facility in South Williamson, KY.
Fona Mae was born in McCarr, KY, February 25, 1934 to the late Leonard and Clara Auxier Collins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: James "Slick" Patterson; son: Terry Patterson; brother: Earsel Collins; and sister: Joyce Gabrielson.
Fona Mae was a member of the Faith Mission Church in McCarr, KY. She enjoyed being with her family & going out and about with them to the local restaurants. She enjoyed cooking and loved to travel when her health permitted. Fona Mae found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who she loved very much. She was a sweet woman with a good heart who will be sadly missed.
Survivors include two sons: Danny (Brenda) Collins of Buskirk, KY, Jimmy (Val) Patterson of Chicago,IL; three daughters: Hilda Jeczalik of Ransom, KY, Marcy ( Dave) Geilbaga of Chicago, IL, Judy Gooslin of McCarr, KY; two sisters: Evelyn Ingersoll of Red Jacket, WV, Floranne Hatfield of Port Clinton, OH; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends & family to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 18, 2016 at Faith Mission Church, McCarr, KY with Rev. Jimmy Fields officiating.
Burial will follow in the Gooslin Cemetery at Peter Fork, McCarr, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the church with special services at 7:00.
