Gregory S. Blankenship “Flash”, 57, of Freeburn, KY, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1960 in South Williamson, KY a son of Emzy Blankenship of Freeburn, KY, and the late Geraldine Coleman Blankenship. In addition to his mother, Greg was also preceded in death by one brother: Stanford T. Blankenship.
Greg was a retired coalminer & truck driver and was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a loving grandfather who all the grandkids called “Paw”. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidsons and working on classic cars. Greg lived life to the fullest and lived it on his own terms.
Those left to cherish his memory include two sons: David (Tamara) Blankenship of Chattanooga, TN, Johnny (Donetta) Dotson of Mt. Sterling, KY; three daughters: Amanda Dotson of Mt. Sterling, KY, Sarah (Deshaun) Pettway of Lexington, KY, Rachael Blankenship (Jeff Bradford) of Lexington, KY; one brother: Chris Blankenship of Freeburn, KY; ten grandchildren: David, Abigail, Blake, Reanna, Jenna, Elijah, Boogie, Desiray, Kelsie & Lailah; special niece & nephew: Tate & Haley Blankenship both of Louisville, KY; and a host of family & friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at The Lord’s House, Phelps, KY, with reverends Mitch Bowling, Chris Casey & Raymond Ogle officiating.
Burial will follow in the Abe’s Branch Community Cemetery with family & friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Monday & Tuesday at The Lord’s House with special services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
