Hulen Edward "Boy" Layne

Hulen Edward “Boy” Layne, 70, of Freeburn KY, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was born February 21, 1946 in Freeburn, KY, a son of the late Hulen & Ida Stevens Layne.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters: Julie Layne & Patricia Fuller.

Hulen was a former coal miner.  He loved spending time with his granddaughter and grandson and enjoyed his friends and family. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Survivors include his wife: Judy Layne; two sons: Ray Edward Layne of Versailles, KY, Brian Keith Layne of Freeburn, KY; one daughter: Lisa Layne- Dawson of Phelps, KY; three brothers: William Layne, Richard Layne, Martin (Monica) Layne all of Phelps, KY; six sisters: Geneva (John) Daniels of Felton, DE, Pricilla Whitt of Phelps, KY, Mary Dotson of TN, Loretta (Kenny) Cox of North Matewan, WV, Rebecca (Roy Lee) Hurley of Kimper, KY, Lorrie Layne of Phelps, KY; two grandchildren: Charles & Charlize Dawson of Freeburn, KY; as well as a host of nieces & nephews, friends & family to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 27th at the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps with Reverend Marvin Casey officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Billy Dotson Cemetery at Boardtree with friends & family serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 10:00P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M. by Reverend Benny Freeman.
