John Lewis Hurley, 67, of Red Jacket, WV formerly of Vulcan, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at McCarr, KY. He was born August 31, 1950 in Vulcan, WV, a son of the late Stuart and Elsie Ferrell Hurley. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by one daughter: Tonya Renee Hurley; and two sisters: Eula Alley & Beula Hackney.
John was a retired coal miner from McCoy-Caney Coal Company and of the Pentecostal faith. He enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and raising game chickens.
Those left to cherish his memory include one son: Jody (Beth) Hurley of Phelps, KY; three daughters: Regina Hurley (Paula Vanhoose) of Fort Gay, WV, Whitley Dotson of Stanville, KY, and Johnda Trammel of Rome, GA; three brothers: Fred (Gloria) Hurley of Varney, WV, Ferrell (Faye) Hurley, of Milling Port, NC and Wally (Pat) Hurley of Ozark Lakes, MO; three sisters: Sandra Schafer of New London, NC, Nora Blankenship of Milling Port, NC, and Carol (Larry) Quick of Mt. Zion, IL; three grandchildren: Samantha & Joseph Hurley of Phelps, KY, Donathan Hurley of Fort Gay, WV; special nephew: Johnny Ray Hurley; and a host of nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Pentecostal Tabernacle in Jesus Name with reverends Ronnie Wolford & Charlie Browning officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hurley Family Cemetery, Vulcan, WV with Jordan Blankenship, Johnny Ray, Kaleb, Johnathan, Joseph, and Billy Ray Hurley serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Friday at Pentecostal Tabernacle in Jesus Name with special services at 7:00 P.M.
