LaVada (Lester) Bentley

LaVada “Lester” Bentley, 68, of Dorton, KY, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at her home.  She was born July 26, 1949 in Phelps, KY a daughter to the late Emzy Scott Lester & Angeline Blankenship Lester-Layne.  In addition to her parents, LaVada was preceded in death by eleven older brothers of the Phelps area. 

LaVada was a retired call trainer for Sykes of Wise, Va.  She loved doing housework & enjoyed spending her time with her husband, family, grandchildren, & great-grandchildren.   She gave birth to four children but raised many more who she claimed as her own.  Anyone who came through her door, she treated as family and she always had a smile for everyone.   She endured a lot of trials, but she backed down from nothing & nobody.   LaVada was of the Pentecostal Faith.  She had a God-given strength and a strong faith in God.  

LaVada is survived by her husband: Kenny Lee Bentley;  three sons: Buddy (Christi) Harris of Millbrook, AL,  Jamie (Jessica) Mitchell of Maysville, KY,  Cody Mitchell-Bentley of Dorton, KY; two daughters: Donica (Robby) Childers of Harrodsburg, KY, Amanda Osborne of Dorton, KY; nine grandchildren:, Brandon, Taylor, Richard, Alexandria, Andrew, Jason, Mya, Corey, Audrey, & Nora; six great grandchildren; as well as a host of friends and family to mourn her passing.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M.  Sunday, February 18th at the Cornerstone Apostolic Church at Jamboree, KY with Rev. Richard McKinney officiating.
 

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the church.
