Linton Kinder, 78, of Upper Johns Creek, Kimper, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1938 in Phelps, KY, a son of the late Don & Vada “Smith” Kinder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Marie “Hackney” Kinder; four brothers: Don, Wayne, Daris, & Willis Kinder; and two sisters: Vada Marie Kinder & Pricey Casey.
Linton was a member of the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church of Phelps, KY. He was also a retired coal miner, having worked for Kentland Elkhorn Coal Company, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Linton was an avid hunter, back in the day. In his pastime, he enjoyed trading, going to flea markets, & working on lawnmowers. Most of all, Linton cherished the time he spent with his family & friends.
Linton is survived by one sister: Judy (David) Griffith of Phelps, KY; four brothers: Dallas (Brenda) Kinder of Knoxville, TN, Roger (Linda) Kinder of Lewisburg, TN, Roy (Geneva) Kinder of Phelps, KY, Randall (Ernestine) Kinder of Lexington, KY; special sister-in-law: Barbara Kinder of Phelps, KY; special friends: the employees of DaVita East Kentucky Dialysis of Pikeville; a host of nieces & nephews; and his little dog, Buster, that he thought the world of.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Monday, April 10th at the Peter Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elders: Jimmy Lee Smith, Mike Elswick, Raymond Stanley, & David Allen Thacker officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery, Phelps, KY, with nephews serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the church with special services at 7:00 P.M.
