Lois Jewel (Dotson) Wolford

Lois Jewel “Dotson” Wolford, 71, and a resident of the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center, left for her Heavenly Home on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the Tug Valley ARH Medical Center in South Williamson, KY.  Lois was formerly of Gooslin Bottom, Freeburn, KY, and spent most of her life there.  She was born March 14, 1945 at Freeburn, a daughter of the late Clarence & Fronia “Whitt” Dotson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Toby Wolford and one sister: Bernis Casey.   

Lois was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church.  She had been a devout Christian since she was a child.  She was also a “people person” who loved everybody & never saw a stranger.  Going somewhere with Lois meant stopping many times to talk to her friends she would run into along the way.  Lois’s family meant the world to her.  She used to take care of many of her nieces & nephews & enjoyed taking them to Sunday School.  Lois leaves behind a legacy of memories that will be cherished by her family & friends.

Survivors include one son: Rodney Wolford of Phelps, KY; brothers: Eddie Dotson of Kimper, KY, Clarence Dotson Jr. of Frenchburg, KY; sisters: Joyce (Ronald) Smith, Linda (Paul) Smith, both of Phelps, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, & friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY with Reverends Benny Freeman, Mitch Bowling, and Chris Casey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Billy Dotson Cemetery at Boardtree with family serving as pallbearers.             

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with services at 7:00 P.M.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY.
