Lonzo Prater

Lonzo Prater, 72, of Phelps, KY, passed away at his residence Saturday, November 26, 2016.  He was born March 11, 1944 in Paw Paw, KY, a son of the late Eli & Lucy Estep Prater.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Clyde, Hassell, Hershel, Avery, Roger, Ferrell, & Earl Prater; and one sister: Mildred Ward.
 

Lonzo was a retired coal miner and of the Baptist faith.  He loved to spend time with his friends, and in his younger years, Lonzo enjoyed hunting and digging ginseng.

Survivors include one daughter: Lesia Prater of Paw Paw, KY; one brother: Cecil Prater of Paw Paw, KY; four sisters: Janice Justus of Cedar Bluff, VA, Bonnie (Jimmy) Sharp of Milford, DE, Eleanor Deel of Cedar Bluff, VA, Brenda (Larry) Deel of Haysi, VA; and a special friend: Aaron Cook of Hurley, VA along with host of nieces, nephews, & extended family.

Cremation will take place and a memorial service at Prater Cemetery, Grassy Creek, Paw Paw, KY, will be announced at a later date with burial to follow.
