Ollie Jean (Bentley) Blankenship

April 11, 1936 ~ February 3, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Ollie Jean Blankenship, 80, of Phelps KY, entered into rest Friday, February 3, 2017 at her residence.  She was born April 11, 1936 in Myra, KY, a daughter of the late Firel Bentley and Isabelle Mullins Bentley.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Fonso Blankenship; five brothers: Carl, Jimmy, MacArthur, Rollie, & Orville Bentley; and two sisters: Ina Granke, & Bernice Wright.

Ollie was a retired elementary school teacher, having worked 37 years for the Pike County Board of Education. She loved teaching her school children.  She liked to work in her flowers and her yard was always perfect.  She was a UK fan, enjoyed shopping, and loved hanging out with her granddaughter.  Ollie collected bells & was fond of sports cars & motorcycles.  Ollie was of the Presbyterian faith.  She was an outgoing person and loved the outdoors.

Survivors include her son: Mitch Blankenship of Phelps, KY; one brother: Jasper (Mildred) Bentley of Myra, KY; and two sisters: Callie Blankenship of Phelps, KY, Patsy Kiser of Pikeville, KY; one granddaughter: Hope Coleman of Phelps, KY as well as a host of friends and family to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services will be conducted 1:00 P.M Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Jones & West Funeral Home, Phelps, KY with Revered Odis Blankenship officiating.

Burial will follow at the Buddy Mounts Cemetery in Majestic, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with special services conducted at 7:00 P.M.
