Pearlie (Blankenship) Hurley

Pearlie Blankenship Hurley, age 77, of Stopover, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2016, surrounded by her loving children and family at her residence.

She was born at Stopover on August 30, 1939, the daughter of the late Joseph and Myrtle Prater Blankenship.

She was retired from the Pike County Board of Education as a contract driver.  She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking home cooked meals and working in her garden. Her favorite love was praying and seeking God and teaching her children right from wrong.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Hurley on August 9, 2014; one son: Raymond Paul Hurley on October 25, 1995; one daughter: Myrtle Mae Hurley, April 1959.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Emzie Blankenship and Joseph Junior Blankenship; four sisters: Hester Adkins, Josie Hamilton, Ruthie Hurley, and Rosa Blankenship.

She is survived by four daughters: Irene (Charles) Sturgeon and Maryann Aylward of Stopover, KY, JoAnn (Randy) Mounts of Hurley, VA, Cinda (Michael) Blankenship of Stopover, KY; four sons: Roy Roger Hurley of Stopover, KY, Richard (Rebecca Sue) Hurley of Delbarton, WV, Randall Joe Hurley of Georgetown, KY, and Glen Elbert Hurley of Georgetown, KY; two sisters: Shirley Hurley and Lue (Luke) Adkins of Stopover, KY; two brothers: Lora (Maggie) Blankenship and Will (Edna) Blankenship of Stopover, KY; as well as twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

Private services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Jones & West Funeral Home, Phelps, KY.

Burial followed in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA with grandsons and grandsons-in-law acting as pallbearers.
