Rita (Whitt) Ray

Rita Fay Ray, 57, of Rockhouse, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born March 2, 1960 in Williamson, WV a daughter of the late Claude & Hazel Fields Whitt.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Whitt; one sister: Marcella Ray.

Rita enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.  She loved playing with and taking care of her grandchildren.  She loved her family more than anything.  She was of the Baptist Faith. 

Rita is survived by her husband: J.K. Ray of Rockhouse, KY; four sons: Billy Ray (Fiancé Melissa Anderson) of Virgie, KY, Claude Ray of Hatfield, KY, Michael Ray of Hatfield, KY, Jimmy Ray (Elizabeth) of Dingess, WV; two daughters: Crystal Cleaver (Jack) of Varney, KY, Jessica Thompson (George) of Varney, KY; five sisters: Pam Ray (Doris) of Matewan, WV, Judy Starr (Sam) of Rawl, WV, Maggie Blankenship (Lora) of Stopover, KY, Rebecca Chapman of Matewan, WV, Delilah McGuire (Rail Jr.) of Rio Grande, OH; nine grandchildren: Joshua & James Thompson, Marcella Ray, Jonathan Ray, Jada & Kendra Cleaver, Summer, Chloe, & Toby Ray ; along with a host of friends & family to mourn her passing.

 Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 29th, 2017 at the Pilgrim House Old Regular Baptist Church of Brushy, KY with Elders: Gary Young, DeWayne Smith, & Eric Williamson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ray Family Cemetery, Rockhouse, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the church with services at 7:00 P.M.
