Roy Lee Hurley, 64, of Kimper KY, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his residence.
He was born March 30, 1952 in South Williamson, KY, a son of the late Fonso Hurley & Sadie Mae Hurley Chapman.
Roy Lee was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He was also a Master Mason and a member of the Thomas DeVenny Masonic Lodge #928 in Freeburn, KY. He was a carpenter, a Bluegrass music fan and he never met a stranger. He was of the Baptist faith and he loved to fish, and could fish all day and night. He was a great man.
Survivors include his wife: Rebecca “Cubby” Hurley of Kimper, KY; three sons: Shawn Layne of Kimper KY, Matthew (Ashely) Hurley of Mt. Sterling, KY, Andrew Travis Hurley of Kimper, KY; three brothers: Darrell (Sharon) Hurley of Georgetown, KY, Ed (Opal) Hurley of Kimper, KY, Melvin Hurley of Sidney, KY; two grandchildren who he enjoyed: Makayla Layne of Lexington, KY, Shawn Allen Layne of Lexington, KY; a special uncle: Wayne Fields of Michigan; and a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverend Benny Freeman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fields Cemetery, Phelps, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Masonic rites will be conducted Monday at 6:30 P.M. with special services following at 7:00 P.M. by Rev. Marvin Casey.
