Charles Tennis Daniels, 86 years of age, of Majestic, KY, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center in Phelps, KY. 

He was born June 11, 1929 in Majestic, a son of the late Raymond & Bessie O’Quinn Daniels.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Arbretta Lilly Daniels; son-in-law: Larry Bronstein; one brother: Richard Daniels; and one sister: Leona Estep.

Tennis was Minister of the Majestic Church of Christ and had been a faithful member of the church since the mid 1970’s.  He was a welder, dozer operator, and foreman, formerly employed by HK Coal Company and Norfolk & Western Railway.  Tennis was a Kentucky Colonel and loved to spend time fishing and hunting.  He was a good family man and a well-respected member of the community.

Survivors include his wife: Christine Daniels of Majestic, KY; one son: Marshall (Marsha) Daniels of Majestic; two daughters: Velva Bronstein of Kansas City, MO, Loraine (Albert) Kennedy of Cleveland, NC; step-son: Larry (Mary) Rice of Pikeville, KY; one brother: Talvis Daniels of IL; two sisters: Josie (Kyle) Spangler of Bee, VA, Shelby Jean Muncy of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren: Regina (David) Rogers of Gastonia, NC, Elichia Daniels (Jamie Hall) of Delbarton, WV, Corey Kennedy of Cleveland, NC; Step grandson: Terrence (Tammy) Rice of Pikeville, KY; three great-grandchildren: Kyndra Fields, Amalyssa Fields, both of Fort Gay, WV, Raina Rogers of Gastonia, NC; step great-granddaughter: Gracie Rice of Pikeville, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Minister Gene Clemons officiating.  Burial will follow in the Daniels Family Cemetery at Majestic with David Grubb, David Daniels, Billy Daniels, Ernie Prater, Richard Wolford, Jamie Hall and Johnny Lee Daniels serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.  A service of remembrance will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.   

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY.
