Charles McClanahan

Charles McClanahan 69, of Phelps, Ky. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 25, 2022, at his home.  He was born on May 31, 1953, in Williamson, WV.  He was the son of the late Nettie McClanahan.  In addition to his mother, Charles was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Margie McClanahan; his maternal grandparents, Minnie & Harve McClanahan and his mother and father-in-law Hodge & Pearl Mounts. 

Charles devoted his life to his family; his children and grandchildren meant the world to him.  He was a retired coal miner having worked in the mines for 15 years providing for his family.  But above all, to him, his greatest accomplishment was accepting Jesus in his heart.  Charles never met a stranger or missed an opportunity to tell someone how good Jesus was and how much he loved us all.

Those left to cherish his memory include three sons: Chucky (Amanda) McClanahan of Phelps, Ky., Charles Wayne McClanahan of Lexington, Ky., and Cameron Johnson of Phelps, Ky.  Two daughters, Kristy McClanahan of Phelps, Ky., and Katelyn (Paul) Mounts of Sidney, Ky.  Three grandchildren; Alexis McClanahan, Baylee & Reagan McClanahan Barker all of Lexington, Ky.  Two brothers; Bill (Vicki) McClanahan of Hardy, Ky., and Jimmy (Bonnie) McClanahan of Belfry, Ky.  and a host of family and friends. 

The family will welcome friends at 6:00 P.M. on the evening of June 27th and 28th, 2022 at Faith Tabernacle Church in Majestic, Ky.  Special services beginning at 7:00 P.M. with Clergymen, Charles Meek, and Odis Blankenship.  The funeral will begin at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 29th, 2022.  Burial will follow at the McClanahan family cemetery in Phelps, Ky. with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
