Helms Jackson

Helms Jackson a resident of the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center of Phelps, KY passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born September 9, 1924 in Phelps, KY the son of the late London and Morgrette “Whit” Jackson. He was 96 years old.

In addition to his parents Helms was preceded in death by his wife: Gerri “Hamilton” Jackson, six brothers: George, Henry, Clyde, Johnny, Louis, and Nolan, five sisters: Angeline, Laurie, Adia, Ellie, and Gusty.

Helms worked as a coal miner having worked for Hibbits Coal Company. He enjoyed working in the yard and loved to play music especially picking the banjo. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors remaining to honor his memory include two sons: Ervin Jackson and Donald Ray Jackson and two daughters: Dorothy Jackson and Bonnie Scarberry. He is also survived by a nephew: George Jackson of Phelps, KY.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY, Friday January 15, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. with Reverend Bernard Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lydia Smith Cemetery of Bones Branch, Phelps, KY.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. with special services at 7:00 P.M.
