Johnny Wolford

Johnny Wolford, 76, of Phelps Ky, passed away November 20, 2020 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born March 22,1944 at Phelps Ky, the son of Edna Dotson & stepfather Frank Dotson who preceded him in death. In addition to his stepfather he was preceded in death by a son Jeffery Wolford Grandson of the late Annie Wolford & Johnny Wolford.

Johnny was a hardworking man who will be sadly missed by family and friends. He was a retired coal miner and a member of thre UMWA.  He enjoyed life at home and loved country and gospel music.  He also enjoyed riding horses & 4-wheelers.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Wolford; one brother, Steve (Betty) Mounts of Phelps Ky; one sister, Nancy Dotson, Mouthcard, Ky; one granddaughter, Christy Ann Wolford; five great grandchildren, Jaidyn Kimberly Almanza, Shakiah Dawn Almanza, Jacob Isaiah Almanza, Isabella Evelyn Faith McClanahan, Dwayne Samuel McClanahan, all of Smith Fork, Phelps Ky; six nephews, Bobby Mounts of Phelps Ky, Joseph Chapman, Martin,Tenn, Josh Stover, Mouthcard Ky, Travis Chapman who preceded him in death, Johnny Michael Messer of Summersville WV, Robert Lee Messer, Summersville WV; two nieces, Patricia (Brian) Preece of North Carolina. Tiffany Dotson, Ashland, Ky, and a number of cousins. 

A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church with Reverends Benny Freeman and Charles Casey officiating,

Burial will be in the Wolford family cemetery at Bones Br. Phelps Ky.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones & West Funeral Home, Phelps, Ky.  The guestbook may be signed at www.joneswestfh.com.
