Percilla Whitt

Percilla Whitt, 73, many knew her as “Girt” lifelong resident of Phelps, Ky. departed this life January 3, 2022.  She was born October 30, 1948.  The beloved daughter of the late Hulen and Ida Layne.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Truman Whitt.  A brother, Hulen Edward Layne, and a sister Patricia Fuller.

She was a Christian and loved the Lord.   She was full of joy and wonderful to be around.  She adored her cats and taking care of them.  Percilla loved to travel when she was able to.  She enjoyed the simplicity of life and most of all, taking care of her family was her greatest pleasure.  Percilla will be sorely missed by all who knew and cherished her. 

Percilla leaves to mourn her passing, a son, Martin (Moneka) Layne of Phelps, Ky.  Daughter, Treana Whitt of Phelps, Ky.  Stepdaughter, Rebecca King of Phelps, Ky.  Two brothers, William (Lori) Layne of Phelps, Ky, and Richie Layne also from Phelps, Ky.  Five sisters, Geneva (John) Daniels, Mary Dotson, Loretta (Kenny) Cox, Rebecca Hurley, and Lorri Layne.  Grandchildren, Zachary, and Tyler Layne.  Step granddaughters, Sydney, and Lorie Johnson. 

The family will begin receiving friends at the Church of God in Jesus Name in Phelps, Ky. at   6:00 P.M. Friday, January 7, 2022.  Special services will start at 7:00 P.M.  Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2022, with Pastor Opie R. Harris officiating.  Interment will follow at Whitt Cemetery, at Bones Branch, in Phelps, Ky.  Arrangements are under the direction of Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, Ky.  The guestbook may be signed at www.joneswestfh.com
