Ruth Carol Downey

Ruth Carol Downey, age 73, a life long resident of Phelps, Ky. departed this life on October 10, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born March 12, 1948 at Phelps, Ky., a daughter of the late Nelson Wolford, and Zettie Marie Norman Wolford. Besides her parents she is preceded by her husband James Downey, and sisters Loretta Dotson, Juanita Dotson, Helen Smith, and Ethel Chambers, and brothers Ernest and Alvis Wolord.

Ruth is survived by one son James Kevin Downey (Yvonne) of Phelps, Ky. two sisters Macie (Denton) Hamilton, and Myrtle Combs both of Phelps. She is also survived by a special friend and caregiver Yvonne Obrecht. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a homemaker and she loved the beach especially Daytona Beach. She liked to listen to her old music and enjoyed watching QVC. She was a loving mother, sister and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Wednesday October 13, 2021 at the Jones & West Funeral Home Chapel at Phelps, Ky. beginning at 6:00 P.M. Funeral services will be Friday October 15,2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the chapel with Benny Freeman officiating. Interment will be at the E.S. Wolford Cemetery at Phelps, Ky.
