Diane (Hurley) Dotson

Diane “Hurley” Dotson, 65, of Hurley, VA, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center. 

She was born June 12, 1953 at Williamson, WV, a daughter of the late Reverend Miles Hibbert & Ethel “Dotson” Hurley.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Russell “Saphead” Dotson; one son: David Walter Dotson; two sisters: Marie Rife, Lillian Waldon; and a special grandson: Larry Thomas Hensley.

Diane was a homemaker and a member of Elk Creek Freewill Baptist Church.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking, gardening & traveling.

Those left to honor her memory include two daughters: Joann (Bobby) Hunt of Hurley, VA, Brandie Dotson (Larry Hensley) of Hardy, KY; one brother: Franklin “Dee” (Ethel) Hurley of Hurley, VA; five sisters: Pearl Rife & Edith Cline of Mohawk, WV, Beatrice Dotson, Delphia (Junior) Lee, Fredith (Douglas) Hurley, all of Hurley, VA; three grandchildren: Steven Ryan (Kayla) Hunt of Hurley, VA, Tristan Myles Dotson & Tyann McKenna Dotson of Hardy, KY; a special grandson: Ty Hensley of Hardy, KY; one great grandson: Zander Ryan Hunt of Hurley, VA; and a host of family & friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverends Ervin & Eddie Dotson officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Dotson Cemetery, Upper Elk Creek, Hurley, VA.

Visitation will be from 6:00 – 10:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M.
