Jerry Lee Campanella, 71, of Freeburn, KY, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born October 29, 1946 in Freeburn, KY, a son of the late Mike & Margaret Blankenship Campanella. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by one sister: Carol Sue Perkins; two half-brothers: Wesley & Virgil Blankenship; and one half-sister: Blanche Casey.
Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church and was a retired mine foreman. Jerry enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
Those left to cherish his memory include three sons: Jerry Mickel Campanella of McCarr, KY, Henry Lee Campanella of Freeburn, KY, and Benny Lee (Becky) Gooslin of Phelps, KY; two brothers: Mike (Judy) Campanella of Blackberry City, WV, and Benny (Pauline) Campanella of Bucyrus, OH; two sisters: Myrna Pamisano, and Bonnie Campanella both of Cicero, IL; grandchildren: Kyle, Dorion, & Rylie; great-grandchildren: Keaton & Kylin; close friends: Kay Hurley, Doris Daniels, Bertie Hatfield, and a host of family & friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church with reverends Benny Freeman and Bobby Dale Wolford officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by DAV Chapter 141 of Belfry, KY.
Burial will follow in the Daniels Cemetery at Lynn, WV with family & friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday & Thursday at the church with services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
