Angela "Carol" Kendrick, a true force of nature, lost her fight to cancer but passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Pikeville Medical Center on January 18th. Born on September 20, 1967, in Grundy, Virginia, Carol lived her life with unapologetic boldness and a spirit that was as fierce as it was unforgettable. To know Carol was to know someone who embraced every moment, every opportunity, and every challenge with unwavering passion.
Carol’s love for her family was undeniable. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hetti Ann McClanahan; her father, Hibbard Kendrick; her brothers, Hibbard Darrell Kendrick and Randell Kendrick; her sister, Gail Kendrick; her son, Justin Sargent; and her daughter, Tiffany Sargent. She is survived by her sister, Linda Kendrick; her sons, Matthew Sargent and Frankie Sargent; and her cherished grandchildren: Alexis Sargent, Laykn Sargent, Olivia Sargent, Harlan Sargent, Rayonna Habern, River Parsons, Austin Kendrick, and Dustin Kendrick. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who adored her.
Carol’s life was a tapestry of wild adventures, fierce loyalty, and boundless love. She was a woman known for her unforgettable presence on the dance floor, her knack for getting into trouble, and her legendary fist fights that often became the stuff of family lore. Yet, despite her fiery spirit, Carol’s heart was her greatest asset. She loved with every ounce of her being and never hesitated to show kindness and compassion to anyone, no matter who they were. She was the kind of person Jesus would have shared a meal with—someone who embodied unconditional love and acceptance in a way that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
While she experienced a spiritual awakening after her cancer diagnosis and found comfort in her faith, Carol never lost her vibrant, untamed spirit. She was, and will always be, a legend whose story will be told for generations to come.
A celebration of Carol’s extraordinary life will be held at Island Creek Freewill Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 and Thursday, January 23rd, 2025 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24th, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Frankie Bryant and others officiating.

Carol Kendrick was the embodiment of living life to the fullest. Her infectious laughter, unyielding spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends will never be forgotten. Her story will live on as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who were blessed to know her.
