Artis Edward (Bud) Gooslin

Artis (Bud) Edward Gooslin, age 71, of Phelps, KY, passed away on December 10th, 2024, at his residence.  Bud was born February 3rd, 1953, in Matewan, WV, a son of the late Artis Gooslin & Virginia “Fields” Cox.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by his wife, Earnestine “Smith” Gooslin; a son, Artis “Buddy” Gooslin; one brother, Randall Gooslin; and two granddaughters, Ashely & Amber Ameling.

Bud was a retired coal miner, and he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps serving in Vietnam.  He received the Rifle Marksman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. 

Those surviving Bud include his daughters, Shannon (Dion) Bingham of New Vienna, Ohio, Jamie Gooslin of Fremont, Ohio, and Jodi Gladieux of Freeport, Ohio; his companion, Rose Lester, of Phelps, KY; brothers, Ronnie Gooslin of Fremont, Ohio, and Mike (Priscilla) Gooslin of Hardy, KY; sisters, Teresa Layne, and Lois “Bim” Cox both of Phelps, KY; grandchildren, Cody Bingham, Javen Gooslin, Cheyann Gooslin, Naytasha Gooslin, Tesla Lozier; great-grandchildren, Blakelynn Bingham, and Rory Bingham.

Bud enjoyed working on old cars and attending car shows when his health allowed.  He was a good guy and would help anyone in need.  Bud was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh.  Bud’s memory will be carried on through his family & friends, honoring his life well-lived.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church 41690 State Highway 194 East in Phelps.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, in the church, beginning at 11:00 A.M. and Pastors Benny Freeman and Steve Asbury will officiate, and military honors will be conducted by the DAV Chapter 141, Belfry, KY, following the service.  Honoring Bud’s wishes, cremation will follow.
