Douglas Hardin, age 68, of Stopover, Kentucky, passed away while inpatient at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, WV surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Williamson, WV, on March 7th, 1956, the cherished son of the late Earsel and Beatrice (Arnold) Hardin.
In addition to Doug’s parents, he was also preceded by his son, Michael Owen Hardin, two brothers, Roger Dale and Gordon Lynn Hardin, and one sister, Diane Robinette.
Doug enjoyed attending Woodman Community Church. He worked as a Coal Truck Driver for many years before retiring. Doug was well known for always making jokes and he loved to make people smile and laugh. Doug’s love for his children and grandchildren never went unnoticed; they were his pride and joy. He was an avid UK Basketball & Nascar fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mechanical work.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Hardin of Stopover, KY; two sons, Earsel (Cathy) Hardin of Phelps, KY, and Joshua Ray Hardin of Stopover, KY; one daughter, Chrissy Michelle Hardin of Versailles, KY; his brother, Brock Allen Hardin of Stopover, KY; and a sister, Jonell Bidwell of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Dylan, Keisha, Raylan, Desariah, Cameron, Kaliub, Jaden, Justin, Jasmine, Peyton, Addison, Azlynn, Brayden, Iris, Carter, Damion, and Carson; 3 great-grandchildren, Grayson, Brynlee, and Kenzli. Doug had 2 special kids he considered as his grandchildren, Zaylee & Kyler Hardin. Doug leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Doug cherished the friendship of his life-long friends, John Wolford, Jr. Smith, Tony Dotson, Bug Wolford, Terry Hurley, and Timmy & Kim Orras.
Visitation will be held December 5th, & 6th, 2024 at the Jones & West Funeral Home from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. with special services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. December 7th, 2024 with Pastors, Odis Blankenship, Larry Rife, and Darryl Wolford officiating.
Interment will conclude at the Hardin Cemetery in Stopover, Kentucky.
