Ethel Ilene (Hurley) Daugherty

Ethel Ilene “Hurley” Daugherty was born December 16th, 1954, to the late Howard Jr. and Pricie (Slone) Hurley.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded by her brothers Teddy Olan, Joe, Lonnie, and Gene.  Her son, Billy Robert Daugherty, and beloved daughters in law April (Jones) Daugherty (Glenn),  and Jackie (Kinney) Daugherty (Billy). 

She married Howard Daugherty of Jamboree, Ky on November 26th, 1972, and had three children:  Glenn Allen (Ida Dotson), Billy Roberts, and Amy Jolene (George Cripps).  They divorced in January 1986.  She leaves behind 9 grandchildren:  Austin, Jake, Gabe, Larissa, Billy Jr., Schyler, Chase, Haley, and Dalton.  She also leaves behind 3 great grandchildren, Ivy Karlene, Adrian, and BJ. 

She loved taking trips with her surviving sisters, Donna (Monroe) Dotson, Freda (Steve) Daugherty, Vickie (Chuck) Hunt, and Michelle (Chris) Stump.  She loved to go up into the mountains to see the horses and the beautiful views.  She was an avid reader and read thousands of books before she learned to use a Kindle.  She loved coffee at all times of the day.  She enjoyed sitting on the porch and taking naps.  Ethel had a green thumb and could make anything grow whether from a cutting or seed.  She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother, Lawrence (Donna) Hurley of Rogersville, TN.

Ethel passed away at home due to complications from COPD on Sunday December 18th, 2022.  Friends and family are invited to attend service at Jones & West Funeral Home in Phelps, Ky. Thursday, December 22nd, 2022, from 6-9:00 P.M.
