Freda Mae Whitt, 57, of Phelps, KY, passed away September 3, 2023, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born February 19, 1966, in Pikeville, KY, a daughter of the late Archie and Loraine “Zankovitch” Whitt. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her two brothers, William Crawford Whitt, Virgil Whitt, and one sister, Reba Whitt.
Freda Mae was a former teacher’s aide for the Pike County Board of Education and was of the Church of God Faith. She loved her family and enjoyed the outdoors. Her many hobbies include four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, and wood-working.
Those surviving Freda Mae include two sons, David Eric (Andrea) Ray of Phelps, KY, Christopher Ray of Phelps, KY; her companion, Eugene “Groundhog” Pruitt of Phelps, KY; two sisters, Rosie & Teresa Whitt, both of Phelps, KY; special nieces and nephews, Tasha & Conner Dotson, Daniel Whitt, Savannah Whitt, Kasheena Crabtree, & Tyler Stump; grandchildren, Skylar & Kendall Ray, both of Phelps, KY, Trevor Dotson of TN, Hayden & Nevaeh Ray both of Pikeville, KY, and Brayden Ray of Phelps, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00-9:00 PM, Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Jones & West Funeral Home in Phelps, KY. Honoring her wishes, cremation will follow. Services beginning at 7:00 P.M. with Harold Layne officiating. Burial will later conclude at Whitt Cemetery in Beech Creek of Jamboree, KY.
