George Russell

George Edd Russell, age 76 of Sidney, Ky. passed away July 3, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born September 19, 1944, a son of the late Randolph “Ran” Russell, and Celia “Brown” Russell. He was also preceded in death by brothers Jay C. and Curtis D. Russell, sisters Mag Bernard, Helen and Sylvia Davis, and Emma Jean Rutherford.

He was a member of the New Beginnings Church of God at Sidney, Ky. George was currently employed as a truck driver for Waggoner’s Trucking Company.  His home terminal was Bowman, South Carolina, assigned to the Mercedes Springer Van division. His career spanned over forty years in the car hauler industry.  His happy place was behind the wheel of his big rig.  He also enjoyed deer hunting with his buddy Richard Haynes. He was an avid supporter of the 2nd amendment and enjoyed collecting guns.  He was a loving devoted family man. He was a granddad to his nieces and nephews and loved all the young ones in his family both big and small. He was a devoted husband to his wife, the love of his life, Eula.

He leaves to mourn his passing and honor his loving memory, wife Eula, son Brian Worstell, Sidney, Ky., daughter Shannon (Doug) Triplett, Canada, Ky. grandchildren Kelsey Worstell, Joshua Worstell, Madison Worstell, Isaac Triplett, Jessica (John) Burgett and great granddaughter Millie Burgett. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.

He will be cremated in accordance to his wishes and a celebration of life will be conducted at the New Beginnings Church of God, 985 Road Fork, Sidney, Ky. on July 17, 2021, at 12:00 noon with John V. McCoy officiating. There will be a second service at the Grandview Church, in Dunnellon, Fl. On October 3, 2021, at 12 :00 noon with James (Debbie) Watts officiating.
