Harmon was a member of the Thomas DeVenny Lodge #928. Harmon was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of VFW 10922 of Phelps, KY, American legion of Grundy, VA and DAV 141 of Belfry, Ky.
Harmon valued his family above all else, and nothing gave him more joy than spending time with them. A talented musician, he played various string instruments and sang in church. He particularly enjoyed playing bluegrass and Christian music. Harmon had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh with his quick wit. He was always happy to help others and never turned anyone away. He was a selfless person who never worried about himself, only about others. Harmon loved his dogs and enjoyed taking them for walks. He was a devoted animal lover. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he always shared his beliefs with others, telling them about Jesus.
His one special friend who never left his side was the Lord. He faithfully served him for over 30 years. Harmon was a member of the Woodman Community Church since 1984. His passion was for music, and he loved playing banjos, mandolins, guitars, and fiddles. Not only was this a passion for him, but he loved to play for the Lord with his church brothers: Odis Blankenship, Benny Smith, Buddy Gannon, and all other music friends that attended. His favorite bible verse was John 14 1-4 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” His favorite song was, Take up Thy Cross.
