James Kevin Downey

With sadness we announce the passing of James Kevin Downey, 51, lifelong resident of Phelps, Kentucky on February 4th, 2025, in Pikeville, Kentucky.  

Kevin was born in Pikeville, Kentucky on May 29th, 1973, a loving son of the late James & Ruth Carol (Wolford) Downey.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by a host of aunts and uncles.

Kevin was kind-hearted and would help anyone.  He cherished every moment he spent with his cousins and friends.  Kevin enjoyed watching TV, listening to music, and he had a special love for his cats.  

Those surviving Kevin includes his aunt, Myrtle Combs of Phelps, Kentucky.  He had a host of cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.  

Cremation will take place, and Kevin will be laid to rest with his parents at Wolford Cemetery in Phelps, Kentucky.
