Joann “Briggs” Coleman, 55, of Pikeville, KY, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center. She was born October 13, 1965 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Jerry Briggs of Phelps, KY, and the late Christine “Justice” Briggs. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Briggs.
Joann had worked as a cook for Phelps Elementary School and attended Cornerstone Apostolic Church. She had an appreciation for flowers and enjoyed tending to them. Joann loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking care of her dogs. She will be fondly remembered.
In addition to her father, those left to honor her memory include one daughter, Tiffany Hamilton (Josh Sewell) of Campton, KY; one brother, Robert Briggs of Phelps, KY; two grandchildren, Indiana & London Hamilton; and one grandson on the way, Syrus.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverend Richard McKinney officiating.
Burial will follow in the Briggs Cemetery, Middle Fork of Blackberry, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M.
