Linda Lou “Squab” Dotson age 63, resident of Hurley, VA, transitioned to her heavenly home on August 10th, 2025.
Linda was born on July 23rd, 1962, at Woodman, KY, the cherished daughter of the late Herbert & Lizzie (Sellards) Blankenship. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her loving husband, Michael T. Dotson, two brothers, Douglas Sellards, and Ronald Blankenship.
“Squab” as everyone knew her by got that nickname from her daddy when she was a little girl. She was a proud homemaker and took great pride in raising her children. She loved being outdoors, especially gardening and looking for ginseng. Squab also enjoyed sewing. She had a heart of gold and always put other people’s needs before her own. She was a proud member of the Stopover Freewill Baptist Church.
Those remaining to honor her memory include her children, Priscilla (Bobby) Duty of Hurley, VA, Marcy (Timmy) Blankenship of Grundy, VA, and Christopher Dotson of Hurley, VA; one granddaughter, Savanna Blankenship and her boyfriend Noah of Richlands, VA; brothers Archie Blankenship, and Randy (Amanda) Blankenship both of Woodman, KY; and her sisters, Maggie (Lonzo) Rife of Hurley, VA, Patsy (Danny) Justice of TN, and Anetta (Terry) Ratliff of NC.
Linda’s warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a legacy of beauty and compassion that will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and community.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. August 12th, 2025 at the Stopover Freewill Baptist Church and special services at 7:00 P.M. with pastors, Ervin & Ronnie Hurley, and Roger Hurley officiating.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon August 13th, 2025 at the church with Larry Rife officiating.
Burial will follow beside her loving husband at the Dotson Cemetery in Upper Elk. Friends & family will serve as Pallbearers.
