Lola Mae (Charles) Rice entered her heavenly home on April 24th, 2025. She was born in Phelps, Kentucky on August 8th, 1947, and she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Augusta (Charles) Smith.
In addition to Lola’s birth parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, George & Hester Charles, her loving husband, Walter Craten Rice SR, one son, Walter Craten Rice JR, her infant daughter, Jennifer Rice, two brothers, Danny Smith, and Anthony Smith Jr. (Buddy Boy), and one sister, Diane Dotson.
Lola was a member of the Lord's House Church, and she loved serving the Lord and attending church when her health allowed. Lola’s personality and smile would light up the room. She found joy in a crowd of people and loved to socialize. She tremendously loved her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchild.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Michael (Peggy) Charles; one sister, Juanita (Reverend Mitch) Bowling; two grandchildren, Isaiah J. Charles, Steven Rice, and one great grandson, Jack Rice.
Lola leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and her friends at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Phelps, Kentucky.
The cherished memories of Lola will live on through her family, bringing comfort and joy to them as they remember the warmth, laughter, and affection she so generously gave.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 29th, 2025 at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery located at South Shore, Kentucky with Reverend Mitch Bowling officiating.
