Maggie Carolyn (Whitt) Blankenship

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Maggie Carolyn (Whitt) Blankenship, 66, of Stopover, Kentucky on November 24th, 2024, at her residence.  

Maggie was born in Matewan, WV, on January 1st, 1958, a cherished daughter of the late Claude & Hazel (Fields) Whitt.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her grandchildren, Parker Blankenship, Alyssa Skylar & Jaylynn Brooke Dunn, her infant brother, Robert Whitt, and two sisters, Marcella Ray and Rita Ray.

Maggie was a proud homemaker, and the greatest desire of her heart was taking care of her family and grandchildren; she was known for her warm loving spirit .  Maggie enjoyed gardening and taking care of her beautiful flowers, and she was phenomenal in canning her garden supply.  In Maggie’s spare time, she enjoyed cooking, working crossword puzzles, shopping, and going out to eat.  Most of all, Maggie loved the Lord, and she always took time to read and study her bible.

Those remaining to honor the legacy of Maggie includes her devoted husband of 49 years, Lora Blankenship of Stopover, KY; three sons, Adam (Ashley) Blankenship, Gabriel (Stephanie) Blankenship both of Stopover, KY, and Jeremiah (Christi) Blankenship of Ashland, KY; five daughters, Tabitha Blankenship of Andersonville, TN, Rosie Blankenship of Wayne, WV, Jennifer Blankenship of Grayson, KY, Eve (Curtis) Wireman of Flatwoods, KY, and Charity (Roger) Osborne of Blaine, KY; grandchildren, Bianca Robinett, Brianna Robinett, Isaiah Hurley, Harley Fields, Keriona Dunn, Haley Blankenship, Rachael Blankenship, Isaac Blankenship, Mason Blankenship, RL Lloyd, Gracie Lloyd, Chloe Lloyd, Zachary Blankenship, Hunter Osborne, and Hannah Osborne; great grandchildren, Rylan, Drake, Easton, Kevin, Jake, Oliver, and Lylah; four sisters, Delilah (Rell) Ray of Gallipolis, OH, Pam (Doris) Ray of Matewan, WV, Judy Star of Merriman, WV, Rebekah Chapman of Matewan, WV.

Maggie is also survived by a host of extended family & friends.  

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with special services beginning at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, in the chapel with Pastor Wilber Dotson officiating.  

Interment will conclude in the Blankenship Cemetery at Stopover, KY.
