Marie (Reedy) Coleman

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Marie Coleman, age 85, who passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Born on June 28, 1940, in Coleman, Kentucky, Marie was a daughter of Hope Reedy and Feba (Coleman) Reedy.

Truly one of a kind, Marie was a devoted homemaker who took pride in creating a home that was always warm, welcoming, and full of love. With a heart of pure gold, she found her greatest joy in caring for others – especially children. She could always be found with a child on her hip or nearby, happily babysitting and loving every moment of it.

She had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting, proudly sharing her talents with others and even selling her handmade goods at the South Vienna Corn Festival annually. Family meant everything to Marie, and she showed that love not only through words, but through countless acts of kindness, selflessness, and sacrifice.

She was the kind of person who would reach out to help someone else, even when she herself was in need. Her generosity, compassion, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. A woman of deep and unwavering faith, she lived her life guided by love, service, and grace.

Marie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and unconditional love that will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Survivors include her two children: Rodney (Carolyn) Coleman of Springfield and Wanda Smith of South Vienna; grandchildren: Derek (Nicole) Smith, Megan (Whitney) Smith, Shelby Smith, Crystal (Brent) White, Ashley (Nick) Alexander, and Tyler Muncy; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister Edith Burgess of Phelps, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Earsel Coleman; brothers Oscar and Woodrow Reedy, infant brother Roy Reedy, sister Sadie Reedy; brother-in-law Royce Burgess.

Visitation was held on December 23, 2025, at the Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home in London, OH,

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Jones & West Funeral Home in Phelps, KY with Pastor Robert Coleman and Eddie Dotson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Coleman Family Cemetery, Calloway Branch, Phelps, KY.  Friends may visit at the Jones & West Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M until the time of the funeral services.
