Matilda Joyce Helvey 85, of Huddy, KY passed away October 18th, 2023, in Hazard, KY at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center.
She was born on February 24th, 1938, at Stone, KY, a daughter of the late Bo and Faustina “Blackburn” Helvey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her sons, Tide Michael Scott, Billy Scott, and Kenny Scott; one sister, Darlene Helvey; one brother, Donnie Helvey.
Joyce, as most knew her by, was of the Christian Faith. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. Joyce was the best biscuit maker around. She loved going places with Billy in her spare time, and taking care of her little dog, Buddy.
Those surviving Joyce includes her children, Donald (Irene) Scott of Blackberry, KY, Dennis Scott of Belfry, KY, Orlando (Shirley) Williams of Stone, KY, and little Billy Williams of Stone, KY; brothers, Johnny (Alice) Helvey of WV, Ronnie (Faye) Helvey of Stone, KY, Billy Joe (Angie) Helvey of WV; sisters, Linda (George) Gabbard of Ohio, and Rhonda Helvey of Stone, KY, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Madge and others who have contributed towards the final expenses.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 25th, 2023, at the Jones & West Funeral Home in Phelps, Kentucky with Pastor Johnny Helvey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will conclude at the Scott Cemetery on Smith Fork at Blackberry, KY.
