Melissa Ann (Hurley) Lester

On December 7th, 2024, Melissa Ann Lester, age 48, a beautiful soul gone to soon transitioned from her earthly body peacefully and received her healing.  Melissa was born in Williamson, WV, on September 1st, 1976, to her mother, Ethel Emogene (Blankenship) Hurley and the late Hayes Hurley.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded by her first husband, Gregory Matthew Clark; and a sister, Cathy Lewis.

Melissa enjoyed attending Woodman Community Church.  She took great pride in her role as a homemaker, and she loved cleaning and cooking; she would feed anyone who was hungry.  Melissa loved the outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, fishing, and taking a ride on the four-wheeler.  She was always excited to travel, especially to Tennessee.   

In addition to her mother, Ethel Hurley those remaining to honor her memory include her husband, Michael Lester of Phelps, KY; daughters, Jasmine (Craig) Ratliff of Vansant, VA, and Hayle Clark and her fiancé Jordan Fields of Phelps, KY; step-daughter, Teonna (Colby) Layne; brothers, Raymond Hurley, Billy Hurley, and Elvis (Tennie) Hurley all of Stopover, KY; sisters, Darlene Wolford of Stopover, KY, Charlene (Junior) Hurley of Hurley, VA, Deborrhea (Terry) Daniels of Phelps, KY; Connie (Paul) Cote of Majestic, KY, Angie (David) Hurley of Stopover, KY, and Pamela Bowling (Michael Justice) of Stopover, KY; grandchildren, Colton Ratliff, Paisley Fields, and Parker Fields.    Melissa is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. 

Melissa treasured the company of a few special friends, Gina Hurley, Elisha & Chris Hicks, and Malena Daniels and her mother & father-in-law, Ernest and Alice Lester of Phelps, KY; brother-in-law, Ernest and Lisa Lester of Phelps, KY and sister-in-law, Patricia Lester, and Ernestine (James) Hunt.

Melissa would light up the room with her contagious smile and bubbly personality.  She was known to be a jokester who liked to cut up and have fun and she will be missed by everyone who loved her.

The family would like to welcome friends beginning at 6:00 P.M. for visitation on December 10th, & 11th 2024 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with special services on Wednesday with Pastor Odis Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, December 12th, 2024 in the chapel with Pastors Odis Blankenship & Daryl Wolford officiating.   

Interment will conclude at the Lester Cemetery in Phelps, KY with Jordan Fields, BJ Hamilton, Ethan Duty, Craig Ratliff, Justin Casey, Josh Sargent, and Colby Layne serving as Pallbearers.

Donations can be made directly to the funeral home to help the family offset funeral expenses.
