Mickey Adkins

With a sorrowful heart we announce the passing of Mickey Adkins, 52, of Freeburn, KY.  Mickey passed away at his residence on August 7th, 2024, surrounded by the comforting love of his wife, Lisa.

Mickey was born on September 1st, 1971, at Freeburn, KY, to Mary (Church) Dotson and the late Ira Adkins.  In addition to Mickey’s dad, he was also preceded by his brother, Keith Adkins, a sister, Louise New, and his maternal grandmother, Dolly Church.

Mickey was known for his passion for riding and working on ATV’s.  He was very strong-willed, and he could do anything he put his mind to.  Mickey was always saying, “Mind over matter.”  Mickey brought joy to all that knew him, and he always enjoyed making people laugh being a jokester. 

In addition to Mickey’s mother, Mary Dotson of West Liberty, KY, his legacy will be treasured by his devoted wife of 17 years, Lisa Simon-Mouser of Freeburn, KY; his loving children, James Dotson of West Liberty, KY, Thomas Price II of Williamson, WV, Craig Mouser Jr. of Stopover, KY, John Mouser (Becca Daniels) of Freeburn, KY, James (Jessica) Mouser of Phelps, KY, Whitney Dotson (Patrick Gilreath) of Alabama, Natasha Simon of OH, Amber Price of OH, and Cierra Finley of Williamson, WV; brothers, Jimmy Adkins of Stopover, KY, Rodney Adkins of Woodman, KY, Duke (Donna) Adkins of West Liberty, KY, Ira (Trina) New of Phelps, KY, and Frankie (Debbie) New of Freeburn, KY; sisters, Melissa (Rodney) Ison of West Liberty, KY, Rosetta (Joe) Mullins of Grayson, KY, DeAnn (Autry) Prater of Freeburn, KY, Lorraine (Barry) Sullivan of Phelps, KY, and Sandy New of Matewan, WV. 

Mickey adored his grandchildren, Kolton Dotson, Laykin, Kira, and Skyler Mouser, Asher Price, Haleigh and Cierra Nelson, Shakira and Jacob Justice, Raven Mouser, Randy, Joshua, and Nathan Chafin. 

Mickey also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends. 

The family would like to welcome friends on Sunday, August 11th  & 12th, 2024 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church located at 40321 State Highway 194 East, Phelps, KY 41553.  Special services will start at 7:00 P.M. on Monday evening.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday at the church with Pastors, Benny Freeman & Steve Asbury officiating. 

Interment will follow at Adkins Cemetery in Freeburn, KY. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the funeral home to help offset expenses.
