Nona Mae (Wolford) Blankenship

Mrs. Nona Mae (Wolford) Blankenship, 88, of Rocky Top, TN passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN, following a lingering illness.

Nona was born on September 4, 1935 at McCarr, KY, a daughter of the late Fred Wolford Sr. and Sarah Polly (Duty) Wolford. She was of the Apostolic faith, baptized in Jesus Name, and filled with the Holy Ghost.

Nona was preceded in death by her husband James “Jimbo” Blankenship in 1994 as well as four brothers: Rev. Fred “Buddy”(Josephine) Wolford Jr., Harold Dean Wolford, William “Bill” (Bobbie) Wolford, and Tommy Wolford. Two nephews, Tommy Dale Wolford and Billy Wolford.

Nona is survived by two sisters, Irene Anderson of Ecorse, MI and Betty Lloyd of Kingston, TN. Nieces and nephews: David Anderson, Cheryl Wolford, Danny Wolford, Bonnie McClanahan, Ronnie Wolford, Brenda Akers, Timothy Wolford, Tammy List, and a special grand-nephew, Brandon Wolford.

In honoring Nona’s wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 22nd at 7:00 pm at the Pentecostal Tabernacle with her nephew, Pastor Ronnie Wolford, officiating. Nona’s remains will be interred in the Pinson Family Cemetery at McCarr with her parents.
