Paul Daugherty

With a sorrowful heart we announce the passing of Paul Daugherty age 65 of Stopover, KY on April 26th, 2024, at his residence.  Paul was born September 7th, 1958, in Buchanan County, VA, a loving son of the late Leo and Beatrice (Blankenship) Daugherty.  In addition to Paul’s parents, he was also preceded by his daughter, Andrea (Daugherty) Coleman, father-in-law, Jimmy Dotson, brother, Bobby Daugherty, sisters, Nancy Hurley, Bonnie Harvey, and Ilene Daugherty. 

Paul was a retired coal miner and proud of his family’s mining heritage.  He was a devoted husband and an exceptional father and grandfather.  He loved spending time with his kids and grandson, Trevor.  Whenever outdoors his loyal dog, Bandit was by his side.  Paul was always willing to give a helping hand and was able to fix almost anything and made many inventions of his own.  Paul was truly one of a kind and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Those remaining to honor Paul’s memory include his loving wife, Jimetta (Dotson) Daugherty of Stopover, KY; son, Jonathan Daugherty of Stopover, KY; daughter, Brittany (Daugherty) Scronce and her husband Chad of Morganton, NC; mother in law, Analo Dotson of Phelps, KY; son in law, Chris Coleman of Independence, KY; grandson, Trevor Coleman of Independence, KY; sister, Melinda Daugherty of Stopover, KY; brother, Kenny Daugherty of Phelps, KY; sister in law, Trish (George) Tiller; a very special friend, Terry “Lurch” Stump of Phelps, KY.  Paul also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to welcome friends from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Jones & West Funeral Home in Phelps, Kentucky. 

A celebration of life service will begin at 12:00 Noon Friday, May 3, 2024, in the chapel with Reverend Mitch Bowling and Odis Blankenship officiating.
