Pauline Prater Obituary

Pauline Prater, age 84, resident of Majestic, Kentucky, passed away on February 12th, 2025, while inpatient at Pikeville Medical Center.  Pauline was born in Freeburn, Kentucky, on October 3rd, 1940, the loving daughter of the late Everett & Bertha “Hackney” Bennett. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, Worley Prater; four sons, Jackie, Michael, Timmy and Worley Jr, two daughters, Debbie Prater, and Christina “Tina” Prater; two brothers, Millard and Everett Jr. Bennett; and three sisters, Reba Dotson, Wilma Mason, and Thelma “Sissy” Reese.

Pauline enjoyed traveling with her sisters and always looked forward to their next adventure.  She dedicated 65 years to raising her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Her nurturing heart was evident in her affection towards her family.  In her spare time, she enjoyed a fun game of bingo. 

Those left to cherish Pauline’s memory are her children, Rodney Prater (Wanda Janey) of Majestic, KY, Ricky Prater of Delbarton, WV, Lesa Prater of Majestic, KY, Corina (Keith) Varney of Tennessee, Crystal (Donald) Holden of Las Vegas, NV, Angel (Troy) Lester of Hardy, KY, and Karla Prater of Majestic, KY; two sisters, Betty Lou (Lonnie Jr.) Daugherty, and Margie (Ronnie) Morrow. 

Pauline was the devoted grandmother to 12 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. 

Paulines’ legacy will be carried on through her loved ones.  The unwavering dedication for her family will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of those she treasured.

The family welcomes friends for visitation February 14th, 2025 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the Church of God in Jesus Name in Phelps, Kentucky with special services beginning at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held at the church at 12:00 noon February 15th, 2025 with Pastors Opie Ray Harris, Larry Rife, and Odis Blankenship officiating.

Burial will follow at the Buddy Mounts Cemetery in Majestic, Kentucky with friends and family serving as Pallbearers.
