Ricky Lee Hurley 64, of Kimper, Kentucky passed away September 6th, 2024, at Pikeville Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Ricky was born in Grundy, VA, on May 10th, 1960, to the late Howard Hurley and Deloris Bentley.
In addition to Ricky’s parents, he was also preceded by his brother, Benny Lee Hurley, and his sisters, Sherry, Sophie and Judy Hurley.
Ricky was a hard-working coal miner before retirement. He devoted his life to taking care of his family, children, and grandchildren. He was generous with his love when it came to them. The highlight of his week was on Sunday’s he always got to see his grandbabies. Ricky was a team member of the “Delorme Drunks” when he was younger and was a fantastic baseball player. Ricky enjoyed the outdoors and was known as a Mountain man. He loved his guns and hunting squirrels and deer. Ricky recently was baptized and gave his heart to God.
Those surviving Ricky includes his wife of 11 years, Jonnie Hurley of Kimper, KY; his children, Rickey Paul Hurley and his wife Amie of Turkey Creek, KY, Samuel James Hurley of Phelps, KY, Benjamin Lee Ruvolo Hurley of Tennessee, and Jacob Dean Ruvolo Hurley of Kimper, KY, Shandy Hurley of Williamson, WV, and Breanna Hurley (Ryan Lester) of Paw Paw, KY; two sisters, Patsy Coleman, and Lenore Hurley both of Phelps, KY; ex-wife and friend, Janetta Dotson; grandchildren, Natilee Lester, Levi Scott Lester, Katlyn Hurley, and David Ruvolo Hurley. Ricky had a host of special nieces and nephews, Donathon Hurley, Shane & Megan Hurley, Gena & Ethan Coleman, Matthew Robinette, Justin & Charley Justice, and Danielle Bishop. Ricky loved his fur babies, Pete, Emma, Nicko, and Baxter.
Ricky cherished his extended family & friends, Michael Hunter, Rocky Maynard, Julia & Farley Lee, The Lester’s, and Bruce Smith.
Ricky had two special friends who he considered brothers, Buddy and Michael Gannon.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 P.M. on September 12th, 2024 at the Jones & West Funeral Home in Phelps, KY, with funeral services beginning at 7:00 P.M. with Buddy Gannon officiating.
Interment will conclude later at the Hurley Cemetery in Phelps, KY.
