Rosalee Stump, 84, of Phelps, KY, lovingly known to many as “Maw,” entered her heavenly home on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, kindness, hard work, and unwavering devotion to God.
She was born on December 18th, 1941, in Nigh, KY, the loving daughter of the late Ernest & Eunice (Hunt) Ramey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her cherished husband, Ernest Stump; granddaughter, Melissa Wolford; son-in-law, Marvin Casey; stepson, Ernest Edward Stump; brothers, Ray, David, and Edward; and sister, Wanda.
Serving the Lord was the greatest treasure of Rosalee’s life. Her faith guided every step she took, and she lived each day with a servant’s heart. One of her final statements reflected the peace and assurance she carried as she prepared to meet her Savior: “The door is open, but I can’t go until the Lord takes me.”
Rosalee was the first woman in Pike County and the second woman in Kentucky to obtain her motorcycle license. She was independent, determined, and never afraid to pave the way for others. For 28 years, Rosalee faithfully cleaned homes throughout her community, building lasting friendships and touching countless lives through her hard work and caring spirit. She was also known for her extraordinary baking talents. Nothing brought her more joy than preparing homemade treats and sharing them with family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need of a little kindness. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, generosity, and love.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Anita (Eddie) Dotson, Rose Marie Hall, and Rebecca (Gary) Smith; stepdaughter, Yvonne Casey; grandchildren, Eric, Vernessa, Brandon, and Emily Grace; great-grandchildren, Erika Grace, Autumn Rae, Jordyn Faith, Jocelyn, and Elena; one brother, Ted; three sisters, Annalee, Bessie, and Tina; special friends, Johnathan “Jay” Wolford, Ersel Wolford, and Joey Collins; along with a host of extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. Rosalee dearly loved her animals and cared for them as cherished members of her family.
As Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” These words beautifully reflect the life Rosalee lived and the example she leaves behind.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that Rosalee’s race is finished, her faith has become sight, and she is now resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
