Ruby Cook Obituary

Ruby Lois Williamson Cook, the youngest child of George and Alabama Williamson, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 30, 2025.  Her daughter Karen and granddaughter Carrie were by her side.

Ruby was known for her loving spirit, strength, and deep devotion to her family. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, music, and joy.

She had a deep love and natural gift for Bluegrass music. One of her greatest joys in life was playing in a Bluegrass band, where her talent and passion brought joy to many. Her music continues to echo in the hearts of those who heard her play.

She was preceded in death by her son, Donnie Cook (Christine Miller), and her grandson, Eric Steven Chisholm (Christy Smith).

Ruby is survived by her devoted children, Barbara Hyden Ragsdale of Provo, Utah, Karen Hyden Krotz of Suwanee, Georgia, her son, George “Stu” Cook (Judith) of Sparta, Kentucky; 11 Grandchildren; 27 Great-Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren.

Though she has left this world, her music, her laughter, and her memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 6th, 2025 in Canada, Kentucky at the Williamson Family Cemetery on Meathouse Fork.
