Samuel Anderson New

Samuel Anderson “Sammy” New, age 69, of  Stopover, KY, departed this life Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home.

Sammy was born April 3, 1954, in South Williamson, KY, the son of the late James and Ermal Faye “Hurley” New.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Merinda Robinson.

Sammy was a retired surface miner.  He was a friend to many.  He loved all things Harley Davidson and working on his bikes.  He also loved horses and passed that love on to his son and grandchildren.  To know Sammy was to love him, and he was loved by so many.

Left to honor his memory is his only son, James Andy (Amanda) Dotson , Kimper, KY.   He is also survived by three grandchildren, Caleb, Owen, and Drew Dotson, his sisters, Judy (Bill) Boyd of Phelps, KY, Diane New (Michael Varney) of Phyllis, KY, and one brother, Roscoe New of Michigan.  Sammy is also survived by a host of many extended friends and family.

The family will be receiving friends at the Jones & West Funeral Home Chapel at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, with special services at 7:00 P.M. 

Funeral Services will be 12:00 Noon, Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the funeral home with Reverends Denny Land and Mike Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at the Frank Robinette Cemetery at Stopover, KY.
