Serena Lynne (Hensley) Charles

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Serena Lynne Charles age 43 of Phelps, KY.  She was born in Pikeville, KY on October 24th, 1980, a loving daughter of Richard Hensley of North Carolina and the late Jennifer “Dotson” Maynard.  In addition to her mother, Serena was also preceded by her grandparents, Raymond & Geraldine Dotson, and Millard Hensley.

Serena was a 1999 graduate of Phelps High School.  She was a longtime employee of Hornet’s restaurant.  She had a beautiful smile that would light up the room.  Her greatest, and most rewarding accomplishment was being Caylee’s Mom. 

Those surviving to honor Serena’s memory include her husband, Herbert Charles of Phelps, KY, her cherished daughter, Caylee Grayce Charles of Phelps, KY; 2 half-brothers Troy, and Jake; grandmother, Wanda Hensley; her lifelong friend, Amanda “Hurley” Hall of Tennessee; uncle, Edgel (Sherry) Dotson of Kimper, KY; cousins, Courtney, and Logan; mother in law, Rose Justice Caldwell;  brother in laws, John & Ruben Charles; and her work family from Hornets.  Serena also leaves behind a host of extended family & friends.    

Honoring Serena’s wishes, cremation will take place and a memorial service will be announced later.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, Kentucky.  Our guestbook may be viewed at www.joneswestfh.com.
