Suzanne “Wolford” Layne, 78, of Phelps, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born October 24th, 1946, at Phelps, Kentucky, a loving daughter of the late Layton & Nicie “Taylor” Wolford.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emily Brooke Dotson, one sister, Clara Stump, and three brothers, Garfield Wolford, Jackie Wolford, and Estil Wolford.
Suzanne retired from the Pike County School System where she worked in the cafeteria. She loved spending time with her husband, children, and adored grandchildren. She was the most amazing mother and grandmother! She was of the Christian faith. Suzanne will always be remembered for her ability to tell a joke like no other and for her feistiness and sass but most of all her kind heart.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 59 years Gary D. Layne of Phelps, KY; two daughters, Angela Dotson of Louisa, Ky, and Katrina (Ray) Blankenship of Phelps, KY; one son, Gary M. (Angie) Layne of White House, TN; one brother, Gary Lee Wolford and his wife, Chris of Bean Station, TN.
Suzanne was the proud grandmother of Aaron Dotson of Louisa, KY, Ryan (Miranda) Blankenship of Phelps, KY, Hunter Blankenship of Phelps, KY, and Matthew Dotson of Louisa, KY, and the great-grandmother to Maisley Kay Blankenship of Phelps, KY.
Suzanne’s love and legacy will forever be remembered. The unwavering love and dedication she had for family will never be forgotten.
The family welcomes friends for visitation at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 7th, 2025 at the Jones & West Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel with Pastor Dennie Land officiating.
Interment will follow at the Wolford Cemetery in Phelps, Kentucky with friends & family serving as Pallbearers.
